Meet The Doctors
The team of doctors at My GP Tamworth are a group of highly skilled and experienced healthcare professionals who are dedicated to providing the highest standards of care to our patients. Our doctors come from a range of medical backgrounds and specialties, and are committed to working together to provide comprehensive care that is tailored to each patient's individual needs.
Dr Casey Sullivan
Dr Casey Sullivan, a proud Wiradjuri and Gamilaroi woman, is a General Practitioner (GP) who owns her own medical practice in Tamworth – the first Indigenous privately-owned and managed GP practice in NSW. She is committed to increasing medical accessibility and cultivating change in the North West NSW community.
Casey was the first graduate of the University of New South Wales Indigenous Pre-Medicine Program in 2004. As well as being a GP, she supervises medical students and junior doctors, and partners with local Aboriginal Medical Services. In 2019, Casey was awarded GP Synergy Supervisor of the Year for her region. She is currently expanding her practice to include nurses, allied health professionals, pharmacy and – in a first in her community – a neurodivergent clinic. She is also studying Indigenous medicine and domestic violence counselling.
Casey is a sponsor for junior soccer, adult Indigenous touch football and the Variety Bash. She mentors Indigenous students at local primary and high schools, and is an experienced speaker on Indigenous cultural awareness and safety in medicine, and Indigenous palliative care. She is also a mum to 4 amazing children.
Dr Casey has special interests in Family Health, Mens, Women's and Children's Health, Mental Health, Chronic Disease Management, Preventative Health Promotion and Traveller's Health.
Dr Aydin Areta
Dr Aydin Areta is a General Practitioner and Conjoint Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at the University of New England (UNE). Aydin enjoys every aspect of General Practice but his special interests include: Mental Health and Management of Chronic Diseases.
Dr Areta graduated from Azad University, Tehran School of Medicine as MD with “Doctoral Thesis Excellence Award” in 2004. He also studied Philosophy as PhD Candidate in Bioethics at Macquarie University (2009-2012) and also worked as Senior Lecturer in Clinical Medicine at the University of Notre Dame Sydney School of Medicine for 4 years (2011 – 2015).
With over 13 years of experience in various fields of medicine including General practice, Emergency Medicine, Mental Health, Addiction Medicine, Medical Education and Clinical Research, Aydin places great emphasis on the Holistic Care of his patients and their well-being and is a strong advocate for Bio-Psycho-Social model of health.
In his free time, Aydin enjoys studying Philosophy (German idealism, Phenomenology, existentialism and Mystic tradition of Persian poets) and also plays sports (Aydin has black belt in Taekwondo with Dan grade and is trying to revive his forgotten martial arts skills! He also used to play chess professionally and still plays online chess whenever time allows). According to his wife, Aydin is also a gifted cook whenever he can avoid being too creative!
Dr Sarah Yarmand
Dr Sarah Yarmand is a general practitioner with extensive background in medical emergency medicine. Sarah's special interests are men's health, women's health, children's health, chronic disease management and promotion of preventative medicine.
She is a mother of one and lives locally with her small family. In her free time Sarah enjoys Yoga, reading and painting.
Dr Cameron Henderson
My GP Tamworth is very proud to have Dr Cam onboard with us. Dr Henderson is a recipient of the Order of Australia Medal and said he was humbled and excited to receive the award. He also said the patience of his family - his wife Jenny and children Alex, Anna and Jack - contributed to his success.
Dr Henderson previously worked in Barraba and Manilla for the past 38 years, was the director of Barwon Division of a General Practice from 2000 to 2006 and provided health checks at AgQuip between 2000 and 2008.
Dr Henderson is also the adjunct lecturer, Faculty of The Professions, School of Rural Medicine, University of New England and conjoint lecturer, School of Medicine and Public Health, University of Newcastle. We are so pleased to welcome him to the My GP Family
Dr Saviz Sasani
Dr Saviz Sasani is a highly experienced general practitioner with a strong background in providing comprehensive healthcare. She has a particular interest in men's and women's health, children's health, chronic disease management, and the promotion of preventative medicine. Outside of her medical work, Dr Sasani enjoys spending time with her beloved fur babies, as well as with her family and friends.
Dr Amin Amiri
Dr. Amin Amiri is a dedicated and compassionate GP in Tamworth, bringing 10 years of experience in health clinics and emergency settings. With a broad interest in general practice, his primary focus lies in chronic disease management, including high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, pregnancy counseling, and mental health. Dr. Amin's unwavering commitment is to provide personalized healthcare that places your well-being as the top priority. Dr. Amin holds certificates in professional and advanced skin cancer surgery from Healthcert Education and Bond University. He is a proud member of the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and is certified in both skin cancer medicine and dermoscopy. Currently, he is progressing towards achieving fellowship status in Skin Cancer from the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.

Dr Siavash Abedini
MY GP Tamworth is excited to welcome Dr. Siavash Abedini to our clinic. Originally from Mashhad, a city in the northeast of Iran, Dr. Abedini graduated from Mashhad University of Medical Sciences and brings almost 10 years of experience as a General Practitioner (GP) in Iran. Dr. Siavash is a dedicated healthcare professional with extensive experience serving multicultural and rural communities. He has worked as an assistant in a gastroenterology clinic and has a background in aesthetics and dermatology. Additionally, Dr. Siavash has provided healthcare services via Telehealth, addressing a variety of patient concerns. Having developed a deep appreciation for the culture and people of Tamworth, Dr. Siavash is excited to begin a long-term career in our city, where he looks forward to contributing to the health and well-being of our community.
